He/she is how old?- People whose age surprised you

9/1/2010 3:48:37 PM by Iceman
Not a week goes by anymore where I see a certain person's age and it really shocks me. Thought it might be fun to have a full time thread where when someone see's an age of another person that shocks them they can post it here.

In a way I am not sure this thread makes me feel very good. Instead it's almost sad that we are all getting older everyday but that's life I guess. Anyways here we go.

The one that I seen just recently that shocked me is:

Charles Manson is .......75 YEARS OLD, WTF? No way!!!

2 years doing this professionally...#1 thing I have learned for aspiring "pro's"

8/23/2010 6:33:37 PM by Iceman
I have been thinking about this a lot lately and I think the #1 thing most people don't think about when trying to bet sports for a living is this......

You will probably be surprised as just about anything obviously could fit as an answer to this question but it's the #1 thing I say/ask to people who ask me about if they should or could do this.

Sure most everyone knows all the basics like shop for the best line, play small pct of your bankroll, etc.... The #1 thing I have learned that I think most people don't...

West Coasters- I have a NFL Network Question (PST)

8/16/2010 8:51:13 PM by Iceman
I am getting my Direct Tv installed till Wednesday. I want to watch a replay of the Lions preseason game and am going to have to go somewhere to do this as the NFL network says 4pm on their schedule on their site for Tuesday but it looks like that is the EST (I think).

Can someone tell me exactly what is on that station (what replayed game they are showing right now) and the time it is so I can see how they are doing this or does anyone know if they say 4pm on their site if that...

Just got back from Vegas...Looking at homes... Doug/FH- deals galore

8/7/2010 4:33:37 PM by Iceman
Sort of sad to see so many homes up for sale.

Drove around for 2 days straight looking high and low for the right home and seen it all. So much to choose from.

Going to rent for the time being but definitley a buyers market. Moving in a week or so.

Can't wait to get back. Highly recommend to anyone if they are thinking of going there for an extended time then do so during the fall. The sports books during football season just have a different feel to them. I love Vegas that time of the year...

Anyone have a clue how much to have someone load, move and unload you from SD to LV?

8/3/2010 10:38:37 PM by Iceman
Basically a one truck thing where movers load it, drive and unload it while driving it back. We have done the whole, put it on with 5 or so others people's stuff to be moved across country in a semi before and that sucked for many reasons including it being like a 10 day or so process between them packing up and arriving with so many other stops in there.

Then we drove the U-Haul before but that involves multiple trips and can be a real mess. Would rather have each of us (wife and I) take a vehicle and drive one seperately with animals in each (her with screaming cat), me with fun loving dogs and get there 4-5 hours later, wait for movers and be done with it all in one long day.

Haven't a clue how much this is but think it's super expensive from cheking before. Figured it was easier to ask on here but I don't think many companies do this, then again anything is possibile if your willing to pay for it.

Anyone do this before or know anything about it? Thanks.

Rough estimate of how many CBB games on the Las Vegas Rotation?

8/3/2010 2:08:40 AM by Iceman
Any info would be great. If you have the number with or without tournments included (conference and/or post season), it doesn't matter.

I know this is a tough question but figured someone might know with a datbase of this or something that can give me an idea.

Just trying to figure something.

Estimate obviously is fine.

Thanks for the help.

Also I threw these numbers together on the above question. Feel free to chime in if something looks right or wrong.

MLB games: 2,430 regular season games

NFL: 256 regular season games

CFB: 600 regular season games (not sure with this one at all)

NBA: 1,230 regular season games

WNBA: (no clue and too lazy to figure out)

Arena Football: (no clue again)

Best "getaway" areas/places in United States

7/29/2010 6:23:39 PM by Iceman
The Fishhead house thread got me to thinking.

Where are some of the best areas in the United States to getaway to stay for a vacation or even a few months at a time? Not looking to do it now but maybe one day down the road.

Now I guess a lot of that would be what your definition of "getaway" is. Mine is where it's obviously an area with lots of trees, land, maybe mountains and water but I guess that depends. Nothing too far "out there" like some place that doesn't have cable or internet access (if there are places like that still). I still want all the normal things but looking for a place that moves at a slower pace.

The one I researched and heard good things about is Flathead, Montana but I have never been there or any places like this for that matter except when growing and up going "up north" to Michigan's northern lower peninsula.

Anyone have a place they go to to getaway or heard of?

How much do you think one can make writing a book on gambling?

2/27/2010 2:04:50 AM by Iceman
Curious to get opinions on this.

No it's not a how-to gambling book and no it's nothing to do with my story of betting in Vegas either. This is not even about teaching people how to win.

Being a big reader of gamling type books for years, I have what I think would be a great idea on a book that no doubt in my mind many people would find very interesintg to read. This goes from serious to recreational players.

Not sure how long this would take to write but I think I could rip through it pretty fast as I have...
